Palak Dal




You can prepare palak dal in two ways. 
You can first get the boiled dal and then tadka for the dal.
Or 
Directly in pressure cooker.

Ingredients:

2 tsp Ghee
1 Garlic finely chopped/Paste
4-5 Garlic 
Curry leaves
2 Green chilli cut into half
1 Onion finely chopped
1 Tomato finely chopped/Puree
Red chilli Powder
Turmeric powder
Coriander Powder
Cumin seeds
Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp Asafoetida
Garam masala
1 cup toor dal -  Boiled
Spinach roughly chopped
Coriander
Salt

Boiled Dal:

1 cup toor dal
3 cup water
Asafoetida
Turmeric
Salt

Get the dal in one bowl.
Rinse/wash it with water 3-4 times nicely.
Add it in the pressure cooker. Add water, turmeric, Asafoetida, some salt and cover the lid.
Cook the dal for around 3-4 whistles on medium flame


Method 1:

Heat a pan.
Add 2 tsp ghee in it.
Once it is hot add Cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, Green chilli,Curry leaves, garlic, ginger saute it for few seconds so that the raw flavour of the garlic will go.
Add onion mix it, saute it on medium flame till onion turns slightly golden.
Add tomato, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder. Saute it well. 
Once it is done add roughly chopped Palak/spinach in it. Mix well and cook the Spinach. It will take 3 minutes.

Add boiled dal and stir it well.
If required add some water also.
Add garam masala, mix it nicely.
Cover the pan and let the dal cook for around 5 minutes.
Add copped coriander.
Turn off the gas and serve the delicious Palak dal.
You can enjoy this healthy delicious dal with roti, paratha and jeera rice.

Method 2:

Get the dal and wash it 3-4 times and soak it for 2 hours.
Turn on the gas, heat a pressure cooker.
Add 2 tsp ghee in it.
Once it is hot add Cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, Green chilli,Curry leaves, garlic, ginger saute it for few seconds so that the raw flavour of the garlic will go.
Add onion mix it, saute it on medium flame till onion turns slightly golden.
Add tomato, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder. Saute it well. 
Once it is done add roughly chopped Palak/spinach and mix it.
Add soaked toor dal and mix it.
Add 3 cups water , stir it.
Add garam masala , mix it well.
Cover the lead and cook the palak dal on medium flame for 3 whistles. Turn off the gas and let it cool down. 
Once you open the cooker , add chopped coriander leaves , stir it and serve your delicious Palak dal.


Note:
If you don't want only toor dal then you can use 3/4 cup Toor dal and 1/4 cup moong dal.
For palak dal while taking palak always remove it's stems. In dal we don't use stems of the palak.
